Charity seeks trustees to help support our customers

picture of person looking at their bill with a calculatorThe Charitable Trust is looking for new trustees to join its board and help deliver support to any of our customers who are struggling to meet the costs of their water bill.

The Trust offers independent support and, since its launch in 1993, has provided thousands of our customers with grants that cover the costs of their water bills. As a registered charity, the Trust is administered by a board of trustees, which includes representatives from South Staffs Water, local authorities and other interested bodies.

As a member of the board of trustees, the role will involve reviewing applications and making decisions regarding grants, as well as establishing policies and managing resources.

"We understand that customers may struggle to meet their payments, so we have a range of options available to offer our support. We’re proud of the work that the Charitable Trust does, and this opportunity to join its board of trustees is a chance to make a real difference to our communities."

- Heidi Knapton, Trust secretary

To be eligible for the role, trustees will have to commit, on average, three hours every three months to studying papers, preparing for and attending meetings.  You will normally be asked to attend four video conference meetings a year from our office in Cambridge. Travel expenses will be paid in return, where applicable.

If you would like to apply for this role, please send a brief covering letter explaining why you are interested in becoming a trustee to WaterHR@south-staffs-water.co.uk.
