Water mains improvements to start in Stramshall

Work is due to start on a project to replace water mains in Stramshall.

The project is part of our ongoing improvement programme and will see 415 metres of water main replaced along Vicarage Drive and The Orchard, resulting in improved water quality and a reliable water supply to customers.

The work will start on Monday 16 March 2020 and will last for approximately three to four weeks.

In order to carry out the works as safely and efficiently as possible, there will be temporary three-way traffic lights on Vicarage Close at the junction with St Michaels Road and on The Orchard at the junction with Broomyclose Lane.

“The water mains in Stramshall were made with cast iron, which can crack and cause bursts. We’re replacing them with new plastic pipes, which are flexible and will provide high-quality and reliable water services to our customers, as well as preventing leaks.

We have planned this project to minimise disruption and over half of the new mains will be replaced using innovative trenchless technologies. This means there will be less digging and therefore less inconvenience to residents and traffic.”
