We are already very efficient when it comes to the amount of energy used to lift a megalitre of water a metre, but we will be improving our efficiency further.
Through data analysis we monitor how our pumps are performing. We know that over time, they will degrade and become less efficient. Less efficient pumps need more power to perform the same task, and consequently generate more carbon emissions.
Our Pumping Efficiency Programme (PEP) allows us to efficiently plan the maintenance and replacement of pumps - with newer, more efficient technology – balancing the cost of the pump replacement against the cost of electricity.
