Water bills in our region are some of the lowest in the UK. We are working hard to keep it that way.
Thank you to our customers – your bill is helping us protect water today and build a better future for everyone.
Your water bill helps keep the network running: around 40% covers daily operations like treatment and pumping, while the rest upgrades equipment and delivers on the priorities that matter most to you.
For an average cost of 60p per day…
…we’re investing more than £702 million between 2025 and 2030 to upgrade your water services. Customers have told us their priorities, and here’s how we’re delivering.

We’re spending £60 million to replace ageing pipes most at risk of leaking or bursting – but how do we decide on which parts of our network are a priority?
The selection of mains renewal schemes is driven by our asset management team. They review a range of different types of data – the key one being burst frequency. Next, the infrastructure programme manager reviews the analysis and provides an overview of deliverability and/or scheme extents.
This helps to extend each mains renewal project to make sure the renewed main covers the whole street, or we may connect to a section of previously renewed pipeline. This removes all ‘at risk’ mains and lowers the potential for return visits and future disruption for our customers.
Following this process enables us to understand where some schemes may be more challenging for our teams to deliver. This could be based on location, traffic sensitivity or customer impact. It also gives us the opportunity to engage with local authorities and other stakeholders on the planning and programme, making sure we manage expectations. In 2025, we reduced leaks on the network by 9%.
Over 15 schemes have been completed to date in locations including Dudley, Uttoxeter, Rowley Regis and Sutton Coldfield. These ranged from 460m up to 3.3km.

How do we finance this critical investment?
The water sector is one of the most critical in the world. That means the amount we pay for water services and the quality of the service provided are crucial for everyone.
Ofwat plays an important role as one of our regulatory bodies.
Ofwat sets water pricing and investment through a five-yearly ‘Price Review’ process. Because regional water companies are monopolies, Ofwat steps in to act as a substitute for competition, ensuring companies deliver necessary infrastructure while keeping bills fair for our customers.
This video explains more about the price review process.
To keep clean water flowing, we need to spend millions of pounds. That means fixing old pipes, upgrading equipment and protecting the environment.
Customer bills help, but they don’t cover everything. So, we work with investors to raise extra money.
Two pence in every pound goes to our investors, why do they matter?
Investors give us long-term funding. That helps us plan ahead and invest more now.
