We will be replacing existing water mains with a new, high-performance plastic water mains to ensure quality and reliable water supply.

When will the work take place? 

Work started on Monday 3 November, with a new district meter being installed on Trinity Road North. 

From Monday 5 January 2026, work took place to replace the mains on:

• Dawes Avenue at the junction of Kelvin Way, up to Johnston Street
• Spon Lane South, from the M5 bridge through to the canal at the junctions of Lathe Lane, Palace Drive and Spring Road

From 10 January, work then took place across three weekends to replace the water mains on Kelvin Way, at the junction of Ault Street.

From 16 February, our team will be replacing the water mains on Spon Lane, as well as renewing service pipes up the boundary of properties on this road. This work is taking place for 10 weeks. Weekend and overnight work may be required to limit traffic disruption on occasion. 

Changes to traffic

To complete the remaining work as safely and efficiently as possible, we will be required to install a one-way system, allowing traffic to enter Spon Lane via Kelvin Way and associated side roads travelling in a northerly direction towards West Brom Ringway.  

Access to frontages will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.
