We will be replacing existing water mains with a new, high-performance plastic water mains to ensure a quality and reliable water supply.

When will the work take place? 

Work will take place on the following roads, between these dates:

• Albion Street - Monday 24 November to Saturday 6 December
  
• Junction Street - Monday 5 January to Sunday 18 January 2026*
• Roway Lane - Monday 19 January to Tuesday 3 February 2026*
• Salop Street - Sunday 1 February to Thursday 12 February 2026*

*Due to a utility pipeline which was not visible to our teams prior to excavation, we have had to excavate more trenches than anticipated in Albion Street. This has resulted in a delay in our work to renew water pipes on Albion Street and the remainder of the scheme.

Changes to traffic

To complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible, we will be working in the carriageway with footpath closures in place. An alternative footpath route will be provided for pedestrians.

There will also be a couple of road closures. The junction between Roway Lane and Dudley Road will be closed from 19 to 30 January, and the junction between Roway Lane and Albion Street will be closed from 26 January to 3 February. 

We may need to occupy the space directly outside your property, which may restrict parking.  Should this happen, our staff on site will communicate with you to organise sufficient alternative parking.

Access to frontages will always be maintained throughout the duration of the works. If, for any reason, we need to restrict access, we will speak to you in advance.
