Essential water mains upgrades in Bridgtown enter next phase

Posted: 20 December 2018

Essential work in Bridgtown will continue in the new year. The project, part of our ongoing improvement programme, is due for completion in April 2019.

With the ultimate aim of improved water quality and reliable water supply to its customers, a schedule of work has been developed to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and visitors to the area during the work.

The next phase of the project will start on Monday 7 January 2018 and is expected to last for approximately 11 to 13 weeks. Temporary road closures will be in place to ensure the safety of the workforce and public, and these will affect numerous key roads in and around Cannock including Union Street, Cross Street, Bridge Street, Broad Street, North Street and Walkmill Lane. Diversion routes will be in place at all times and access will be maintained for residents and businesses.

Phil Newland, Managing Director at South Staffs Water explains:

“This project represents a significant investment into the water quality in the area.  We are sorry for any inconvenience our work may cause and we will try and minimise the impact as much as possible.  We started work in October, and stopped for the busy Christmas shopping period to reduce the impact on the high street. January sees the start of the next phase so that we can complete the work at the end of April. ”

At no time will access be requested to a customers’ property unless a visit has been pre-arranged.  If you require any further information or assistance during the work, please contact the site team on 0800 3891011.
