Hard water is perfectly safe and there's a lot of evidence that it can be good for our health. Calcium is essential for normal growth and health, and if you're in a hard water area, your drinking water can contribute towards your daily calcium intake.

We are constantly collecting samples from across our treatment works, reservoirs and customer properties which each then undergo a series of tests in the laboratory to ensure they meet all drinking water standards.

Water hardness
All the water we supply is 'hard' together with more than 60% of homes in the UK.
When water falls as rain it is 'soft', but it picks up naturally occurring minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, as it passes through rock, sand and soil. This causes the water to become ‘hard.’
