Work is starting on an essential project in Bramshall.

The scheme will see the replacement of a existing pipework with a new 400mm ductile iron main and a new 225mm high performance polyethylene water main on Bramshall Road and Stocks Lane.

Where and when?

The project is due to start on Monday 18 October 2021 and is expected to take eleven weeks, in total, to complete.

Starting in Stocks Lane, we will then work towards Stone Road for approximately three weeks. Works will begin on Stone Road on Monday 7 February 2022. 

Will traffic be affected?

In order to complete this work as safely and efficiently as possible, Stocks Lane and Stone Road will be closed in sections, as our work progresses. Details are as follows: 

1. From 18 October: Stocks Lane for approximately three weeks.
2. From 7 February 2022: Bramshall Road, from outside the Old Bramshall Inn to the junction of Stocks Lane, for approximately six weeks.

A diversion will be in place, while the roads are closed, and access for residents will be maintained throughout.

We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, however by doing so, it will help us complete the works as safely and efficiently as possible.

These details are subject to change dependant on acceleration of the works or any unforeseen circumstances that we may encounter.

Will this affect the water supply?

We aim to complete the works with as little disruption as possible. However, we may need to turn off the water supply for a short period of time. If we do need to shut off your supply, we will provide as much notice as possible.

Updates

19 November 2021
We have completed our works in Stocks Lane and the road will now reopen. The project will continue on Stone Road in 2022, with exact dates confirmed closer to the time.

26 November 2021
Our work has temporarily stopped and will resume on 7 February 2022 on Stone Road. Thank you to customers and residents for their continued patience. We will provide further updates in the new year.

11 February 2022
Our work will resume, one week later than planned, on Monday 14 February between the Bramshall Inn and Stocks Lane. Temporary two-way lights will be in place as we carry out preparation works, ahead of the installation of the main.

1 December 2022
Work is due to resume on Monday 9 February 2023 on Stone Road, outside the Bramshall Inn, working towards the junction of Stocks Lane. The project is expected to take 12 weeks to complete. Temporary traffic lights will be in place, with a reduced, 10mph speed limit enforced for the duration of the project. This will allow traffic to pass through the works safely. A full road closure will be in place on the following dates:

• 18 and 19 February 2023
• 25 and 26 February 2023
• 4 and 5 March 2023

Our investment programme

This scheme is part of our commitment to invest in new water mains, to reduce leakage by at least 15% and to ensure our customers continue to receive a reliable and high-quality water supply.
