Where and when?

Works will start on Beaconsfield Road, at the junction of Field Lane, before progressing onto Field Rise and Field Close.

The scheme will also cover the following locations, which will be completed in subsequent phases:

  • Bitham Lane
  • Silverhill Close
  • Hillfield Lane
  • Harehedge Lane

Will traffic be affected?

In order to complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible, multiway traffic lights will be in place at the Field Lane junction for Beaconsfield Road, for approximately two weeks. All remaining streets will have a single lane closure in place, where motorists will be required to give way and pass when the road is clear.

Parking

As we will be working outside your property, parking will be restricted on the road, and therefore it would be greatly appreciated if you could find an alternative place to park. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, however by doing so, it will help us to complete the works as safely and efficiently as possible.

Will this affect my water supply?

We may need to turn off your water supply for a short period of time. If we do need to shut off your supply, we will provide as much notice as possible.

These works will improve the quality and reliability of your water supply. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

Our investment programme

This scheme is part of our commitment to invest in new water mains, to reduce leakage by at least 15% and to ensure our customers continue to receive a reliable and high-quality water supply.

Updates

July 2022

Work is due to start on Bitham Lane on Monday 25 July. The next stage of the scheme will see Bitham Lane closed for six weeks, as we replace the existing water main and renew the service pipes up to the boundary of customers' properties. A diversion route with appropriate signage will be in place, and access for residents will be maintained throughout. Following the completion of these works, we will continue on to Silverhill Close and Bitham Court, where we will replace two short sections of pipework.

October 2022

Following discussions with the council, we have now agreed a date to return to Beaconsfield Road and Field Close to complete the remaining installation of the new water main, as part of our renewal plan. We will resume works on 14 November 2022 for approximately 4 - 6 weeks. In order to carry out the work in a safe manner, multiway traffic lights will be in place at the Field Lane junction of Beaconsfield Road for approximately two weeks at the tail end of the work. All remaining streets will have a single lane closure in place, where motorists will be required to give way and pass when the road is clear.

Prior to this phase of work taking place, our customer liaison vehicle will be available, should you have any questions or would like any further information. The customer liaison vehicle will be located opposite 60 Beaconsfield Road on 10 November 2022, between 12pm and 6pm.

December 2022

Work is due to start on Hillfield Lane on Monday 9 January 2023 for approximately six weeks. The works will begin just before the bridge over the A38, progressing to the junction and including the industrial estate section of Hillfield Lane. In order to carry out the works safely, temporary two-way lights will be in place on Hillfield Lane, over the A38 bridge, for approximately three weeks. All remaining streets will have a single lane closure in place, where motorists will be required to give way and pass when the road is clear.

Due to an unforeseen issue on site, we have had to extend the duration of this phase of the project for a further two weeks. We now expect to complete these works by Sunday 19 March.

Work is due to start on Harehedge Lane on Tuesday 21 February for approximately two weeks. Work will start outside Outwoods Primary School, before progressing towards the A511 roundabout (Tutbury Road). Prior to the start of these works, our customer liaison vehicle will be available, should you have any questions or would like any further information. It will be located opposite 11 Wilson Way on Wednesday 15 February, between 9am and 3pm.
